Poets of the Fall

Poets of the Fall
If none of you have heard of this truly amazing band, here is a couple of their songs.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MKk1u5RMT...re=mh_lolz

The first song is Carnival of Rust. First song of theirs I heard, my second favorite, second only to Lift [also in the list].

Lift connects with me quite a bit, might be because of the music video, maybe the lyrics, but it hits home. Not close to it; it hits dead center.

And then, there's this song. This one, well...

It kinda makes me tear up a little, for personal reasons.
Thoughts on the music?

I'm not the one for ballads, but these are amazing, I think. I'm so angry that i missed PotF at a festival two summers(?) ago, when I could have seen them live.. Sad

When I was young, there was a god with infinite power protecting me. Is there anyone else who felt that way? And was sure about it? but the first time I fell in love, I was thrown down - or maybe I broke free - and I bade farewell to God and became human. Now I don't have God's protection, and I walk on the ground without wings, but I don't regret this hardship. I want to live as a person. -Arina Tanemura

I agree; I'm not one for ballads either but damn these guys do them right. Sleep, especially, is heart-breakingly beautiful. Big Grin

I'm glad to know that at least some Finnish bands are appreciated abroad Smile

Damn right they're appreciated abroad. They actually make music that sounds artistic, creative, and inspired. Unlike most American bands which are either christian-rock groups trying so desperately to sound "hip" and "cool" even though they just spam the same tired chords and sing the same fucking song over and over and over, or they're supposedly alternative rock bands incapable of making anything original and instead just sound like rehashes of older, far greater, more talented bands, or emo bullshit whining about petty "first-world entitled-whitey" problems, or bands that just outright pander to angsty high schoolers. None of it is ever really inspired anymore, it's never deep, or meaningful. It either tries too hard or it barely tries at all. D:

One song I absolutely love that I recently heard, too:

Listening to the lyrics, I can't help but get the impression Poets might be atheists...
