I like that pseudo slur "militant". Yea, like Galileo was "militant" when he told the truth about the heliocentric nature of our solar system and got put under house arrest for it.

I don't blow things up or threaten people because they say things I don't like. Merely saying "that is not true", or "that makes no sense" or even "bullshit" doesn't make one militant.

You call atheist "ignorant" because we don't blindly swallow your pet god claim. You call us "militant" because you don't like feeling uncomfortable about your own claims. That is your baggage, not ours.

Saying the earth is not flat, does not make one militant.

This is NOT a human rights issue here. You can claim whatever you want, but that does not make it credible merely because you like it. Otherwise every human could claim whatever they want and it would have to be true just because they can string a sentence together.

If our species never questioned social norms our species never would have left the caves.

I use the word militant to describe the stupid Atheists who think by being ignorant and generally unpleasant to other people, they are somehow helping unbelievers look intelligent.

I call them ignorant because they are about as educated as a Fundie. Most atheists are not like them, but these uneducated Atheists love to drag them into their fight. Religious people (one in particular makes religious folk on here look like unbelievers) have tried to do that to me and it does not fly.

I hate people who dig their own grave yet try to bring others down with them. If someone calls you ignorant, don't assume they are calling all atheists ignorant....just you.

You hate people? (as opposed to their sins)

Perhaps it is you who should read the bible;especially the commandments,in conjunction with the parable of the good Samaritan. That parable answers the question "who is my neighbour?" answer:everyone.

The bible also says;
Quote:Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye. (KJV Matthew 7:5)

Go fuck yourself.Angry

Those who are bored by SunTzu tend not to end up in the position to write history in their own favor.

Pad. Sin does not make up the personality of a person. By neighbor, it refers to the Jewish people which would mean those among the community of believers in modern usage.

Bollocks, the parable is stating a universal moral principle.

Quote:Sin does not make up the personality of a person

Actually it does in part; our behaviour does indeed effect our personality. However, Jesus admonished his followers to love their enemy and those who reviled them .He also admonished his followers hate the sin but love the sinner
.
Yet you have the arrogance to lecture others about their biblical knowledge. I'm beginning to suspect you might be a bit of a stuffwit as well as an ignoramus..

Quote:The word “neighbor” in the Greek means “someone who is near,” and in the Hebrew it means “someone that you have an association with.” This interprets the word in a limited sense, referring to a fellow Jew and would have excluded Samaritans, Romans, and other foreigners. Jesus then gives the parable of the Good Samaritan to correct the false understanding that the scribe had of who his neighbor is, and what his duty is to his neighbor.

Quote:Jesus is telling us to follow the Samaritan’s example in our own conduct; i.e., we are to show compassion and love for those we encounter in our everyday activities. We are to love others (vs. 27) regardless of their race or religion; the criterion is need.

Quote:If anyone says, "I love God," but hates a Christian brother or sister, that person is a liar; for if we don't love people we can see, how can we love God, whom we have not seen?
--1 John 4:20

Quote:Paul said he wasn't able to judge himself much less others. If we could all have that attitude, it would be easier for us to hear God when he speaks to us. Any thought that rises up inside a person and makes them feel hopeless, lost or unworthy is not from God. I also do not want to be the source of condemnation to someone else. I want to rise above pettiness and hatred.

Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. Love does not demand its own way. Love is not irritable, and it keeps no record of when it has been wronged. It is never glad about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful and endures through every circumstance. Love will last forever ...

RE: read the bible
Well Jews committed genocide against their neighboring nations so they would not have to associate with them. That is why it is a wise assertion that neighbor referred to the community of believers. Sometimes, they did have visitors, but they were often treated as separate.

A Christian is among the community of believers and therefore considered a neighbor as it was considered in the OT.

Is that what history is about?

Which parts of history?

The part where you look back to try to find out what really happened, the part where you look forward and try to make sure those who look back see what you want them to see, or the part where you pretend to look back and claim to have seen what you want to see?
