What's growing in your garden?

RE: What's growing in your garden?
The yard is great for catching fireflies (we call them lightning bugs). I'll take and post pics of their jars next time they go out on the hunt.

From this past week. A self portrait and plant combo portrait in the garden.

Only informally with other hortisexually inclined folks in my area. We're always looking to get something more exotic. "Mine's bigger than yours", that sort of thing.

Thank you both.

Less competition and more pissing contest? :3 I bet your garden smells amazing. I found a meadow in Tennessee once while visiting some cousins. The smell of earth, flowers, grass and sunshine was incredible. I was pretty young (maybe around 10?), but it made an impression on me. Then I proceeded to play soccer in it.

I think you may have hortisexual tendencies. Palms, cacti, pond .. all tell tale signs. Did I just out you? (Looking pretty awesome.)

'Hortisexual'? How exactly does one have sex with a cactus?

Please don't read anything into laziness and pragmatism. Big Grin

I describe my garden as 'eclectic and informal'. An unkind person might say unplanned ans untidy

I love my garden, but hate the work involved. Plus, over the last few years we have had 'level 4' water restrictions. Watering your garden is only permitted 3 times a week, for 2 hours at dawn and at dusk, by hand only ,using a gun spray, or by bucket at any time. No washing your car with a hose. We get government subsidies for installing rain water tanks and low flush toilets.

Every plant in my garden, including 30 odd rose bushes, is either drought resistant or,more commonly, drought tolerant.

I will post photos of my huge bottle brush, wall of jasmine, native franjipini in flower, and others..

Hang on, I think I have some. I've posted these before, but you may not have seen them:

I recognize the jasmine in the first picture. The yellow flower in the third to the last photo is one I'm growing too, but not half so well. We call it Yellow Bird of Paradise bush, something like Caesalpinea poinciana.

Yeah, you've been bit alright. My policy toward work in the garden is pretty important to me. It isn't allowed to become one more to-do list. Of course prior to having guests over I'll get busy and sweep paths and weed a little. Other than that I make chores flow from hanging out in the garden. I go out there to read, nap or play with the dogs but when I start looking around I get inspired to do projects. What if I pruned that branch, moved that plant .. whatever.
