I don't hate God

For a while I assumed that when they hear "I don't believe in god" they probably translated it as "I don't follow god, I'm against god". As if they failed to understand what we meant by 'no belief in god'. That perhaps they didn't know that we meant we don't believe in god's existence, and that it's got nothing to do with not following or hating a made up being.

If this isn't the case and they do realise what we mean by 'no belief in god' then there's just one conclusion I can think of regarding this situation. They're really fucking stupid!
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence - Carl Sagan

Mankind's intelligence walks hand in hand with it's stupidity.

Being an atheist says nothing about your overall intelligence, it just means you don't believe in god. Atheists can be as bright as any scientist and as stupid as any creationist.

You never really know just how stupid someone is, until you've argued with them.

A grown adult believing in superstitions and fairy tales is fucking stupid.

If that hurts, perhaps you need to take a look at why it hurts.

It wouldn't hurt me in the least if some idiotic theist claimed that NOT believing in fairy tales and superstitions is stupid. Go figure.

In any case, get over yourself.

I'm with you. I've hated that jolly fat fuck since he stiffed me on the minibike in 1978.

It's the choice of words. I don't give a shit if anyone calls me stupid for any reason, because I know I am not stupid. There is more to believing in a higher power, or the possibility of one, than simply believing in fairy tales. You stating with absolute certainty that there is only one facet to a belief system, perhaps shows just how stupid you are. Damn, there's that word usage problem again; what I should have said is, ignorant. Every group in this debate is equally as guilty of claiming the intellectual high ground. You, sir, are as blinded by your sense of self importance as any theist.

Get over myself? what is this; the big ol' high horse ranch? You're telling me to get over myself while you smugly call billions of people stupid.

3. Who the fuck is promoting this stupid belief; and why haven't they been kicked out of your cosmic circle jerk club?

1. Nope.

2. As a polytheist I sacrifice to a number of gods. I think it´s fine and dandy that the Christians got their own god, in the same way I think it´s fine and dandy that the Hindus got their gods. However, the Christian and Hindu gods have little consequence in my life and I don´t really care about them - some of their followers are annoying, but there are also a lot of Asatru I consider annoying so... I guess that is a "people thing" rather than a "religion thing".

3. Ignoramuses, donno ask the cosmic circle jerk club.

Accusing an atheist of hating ANY god is like accusing them of hating Superman or Lex Luthor. We cannot hate something that does not exist.

We do however, hate naked assertions people go around claiming with no evidence, especially when it infects politics and education and science.

Just like any sane person would hate it if they had a friend who went around insisting that the sun rotated around the earth.

No, there really isn't. You have just as much reason and evidence to believe in unicorns, leprechauns, and Crumple-Horned Snorkacks as you do to believe in any given god-figure. I hope I am not the first at this forum to inform you of this. <eyes all the atheists here with feigned suspicion>

You strawmanning me and trying to pretend I said shit I didn't say, e.g., "there is only one facet to a belief system" makes you stupid AND a liar.

Oh, yeah -- I forgot "insane" -- add that to the list, too.

So if you know there is more than one facet to a belief system,

What does that even mean? Are you casting my pointing out the fact that your religion is superstition as single-faceted approach to religion? If so, that is utter tripe. That it is superstition is merely the bottom line.

Quote: why describe people as simply stupid?

Because believing in superstitions is fucking stupid.

Quote: Strawman my ass, you implied it in your ignorance,

OH, so according to you it's ignorant NOT to believe in superstitions. Check.

Quote: you arrogant asshole.

That's LORD arrogant asshole to you, punk.

Quote:You do realize that everything you say hinges on you being right in the first place, right?

This is how reasoned argumentation works. Didn't you know?

Quote: I'm done with you,

Glad to hear it.

Quote:I've seen clones like you on every forum and message board on the internet. You're regurgitating the same crap as they all do, with just as much self righteous arrogance. Pfft

The reason you keep getting beaten up by people who don't believe in superstitions is because you keep clinging to the same bullshit and refusing to examine it critically and objectively. Thus your perception of "clones" who "regurgitate the same crap". When one person calls you a duck...

But you'll never learn. Fucktard religious trolls never do.
