RE: A case for cannibalism in society
How many people do you guys think are going to take this up if it were decriminalised? Mad-cow disease isn't going to spread like wildfire.

I heard somewhere that we taste like pork... I do not remember the source, my brain just files away weird tidbits like this for later regurgitation.

There was a case in Germany where a man sought a person online to eat. He found someone, killed, and ate them, presumably with the victim's permission. When he went back to whatever site he was using to look for a second person (because his supply of meat was low), someone called the authorities. I believe he's in a psych ward somewhere...
Found a link, the case I'm referring to is mentioned at the bottom:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/3254074.stm

But if someone wants to be eaten or doesn't care what happens to their body after they die... I guess there's no problem with that... It's disgusting, but if it floats someone's boat... I'd recommend a cooking thoroughly...

I think it's wrong in all circumstances. I would rather die of starvation then eat another human.

Even for those that believe in some afterlife, the body is done.

As I understand it, there are laws for the proper disposal of the body, so, cannibalism is not illegal and just not considered in most cases.

Once a body made it through the American food processing system it would be pristine, sterile, nutritionless, salmonella food.

There are several diseases attributed to cannibalism. Specifically a type of CJD attributed to the consumption of human lymphatic tissue. Isn't it possible that general repulsion expressed by humans is not merely a cultural paradigm, but rather an evolutionary thought process? A little nudge from our genetics letting us know IT'S A BAD FUCKING IDEA!

However, I could be wrong. Perhaps if it was regulated and only the parts deemed "safe" were consumed, and if there are no ramifications other than the psychological ones, and if there are indeed people who wouldn't be afflicted with such psychological ramifications, then by all means those people should at least be allowed to do it. Just not in front of me.... please...

I don't eat any meat. I find the whole idea of killing any sentient creature for their flesh obscene.

Not for me; when I sit down to eat my solent green, I want to know it has been organically reared in a good environment, and as such provenance of my meat is all important. I would not like the thought of eating Japanese who are reared in tight little pens and don't get the chance of exercise, It is important to me the animals I eat are reared well. As such I would tend to eat Scandinavians, but they would have to come with a drug free label, so my meat of choice would be Danish christian scientists its that little bit more, but you know its worth it.

Let me guess - you heard that in some cannibalistic cultures, human flesh is referred to as "long pig" and drew your conclusions from there.

Way to assert without any justification.
