Are depressed people more realistic?

RE: Are depressed people more realistic?
I don't have a source for this, since it was imparted to me during class, but it seems like pessimistic people are more realistic about life, but optimistic people deal with life much better. Smile

I wonder how it goes for people who have a secret, special friend in Jesus and believe they hold a ticket to a better place? Too bad God's rules don't allow you to punch your ticket early, Junkyard. Just think you could be up there strumming a lyre with all your true-believing brethren right now.

Take a look at this member's post history, O queen, you would have to copy paste this reply many times. Somehow I feel he equates atheists with nihilism.

Statistics show that intelligent people are more likely to be depressed. This makes me feel better about my lifelong struggle with depression. Just seeing things as they are is enough to make one depressed.

When I'm happy, that's great and all, but I'm being selective about what parts of reality I allow myself to think about.
