whether there will be wwIV is another question

I find this to be immensely unlikely, if for no other reason - than the advances we've made in our arsenals. A conflict of the scale and type as WW2 was in the 30-40's could be resolved in all of a few minutes today. The news would probably report on it in retrospect, as one side sent an occupation force to assert control over the rubble of the other.

I think the more likely doomsday scenerio is the earth being engulf by some self-replicating nanotech goo.

World War 4 will be fought by roaches that have evolved into self-aware beings.
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

We're not quite that good at nano-tech yet.....now bio-tech.....well.....we might be able to arrange that one in the near future..lol.

If by efficient you mean more precise, then, yes. Are you honestly saying that the Vietnam War, and the Soviet Afghan War, and the dozens of other wars since WWII, have been bigger and more violent than the last? Because that's clearly what you meant. And it's clearly bullshit.

The history of man is conquest and dominion. Thanks to technology, that can mean cultural and economic domination having far more power than military domination. Nobody fucks with the US not because we have tons of military personnel because we don't. We have, however, the most technologically advanced war machine, and more importantly, the richest single economy. These are two HUGE factors in deterring war, not causing it.
