Quote:The Bible - an epic 10-part miniseries retells stories from the Scriptures for a whole new generation from Genesis through Revelation. This DVD set is sure to entertain and inspire the whole family!
Just a new dressing on the same old story. Who cares?

As a history major in college, we were explicitly told to not use the History channel as a reference for anything. So… yeah...

I have a cousin who among other things Taught the history of American war, in the ROTC program at UF. (He is a lt. Col. US Army Rangers Ret.) He doesn't seem to share your professors complete predjudice of all things History channel. The point being 'we' can find any number of reasons to justify our personal desire to live with an open or closed mind. For there are many others who will share our desire to do so.

Well Drich, if it makes you happy, watch it. Of course it can't be wrong about everything. Lately, it has been just a can of garbage, hard to get something of substance.

I (surprisingly) do not disagree. I would like to see more world History, that said I point back to the ablity to discern, and filter/seperate the entertainement shows from ones that focous on some sort of historical record. Or again are you saying that the History Channel has some how changed the date of the normandy invasion? When lincion was shot, when Cornwallace surrendered?? The History Channel should not be one's sole source for anything, but should be used as a tool to inspire and trigger a curosity for one to dig alittle deeper into a given subject.
Which is why I started this thread to begin with. Because the The Bible Mini series, plays out like an entertainment show would, and would leave a lot of questions if one did not have a very good understanding of the bible.

I understand that the bible is a pile of primitive shit concocted by a tribe of desert goat herders to scare the shit out of themselves. It is in keeping with the general line of shit which History has been running for the last several years - I can't remember the last decent historical documentary I saw there - which is designed to improve ratings by producing garbage instead of real history.

One thing I learned in college was to tailor my writing for the intended audience. In the case of collegiate writing, the individual professor. That's why first papers of the term are so stressful.
