I would imagine the physical writing is easy....the thoughts are hard to grasp and pin down into words.. Take it slowly mate.

It took me almost a year to write my book, not counting all the illustrations. It's very time consuming, so good hunting!

That, and I have an addiction to procrastinating. I end up being terribly guilty at the end of the day when I haven't hit a certain level of progression, but at least I watched a lot of youtube videos!

Ooh, that's a good idea. Certainly better than just cluttering my laptop up with notepad files filled with half formed story ideas.

I put it up for anyone that might be interested. That's a bit different from telling somebody they must watch something because it is relevant to your argument.

I liked what you described as the pastor's quirkiness. He was engaging and I didn't think any of his enthusiasm was contrived. Apologizing for saying 'separated shoulder' seemed a little over the top though. The repetiion of the cooking and music anaologies was a bit odd. I don't agree with the argument the analogies were meant to support, but I immediately understood the anaologies. I'll have to assume that some in the audience were giving him the classic student 'I don't get it blank stare'. I got it, so I'll blame the students.

The passages from Revelation, the Gospels, and Daniel are used to support three arguments:
1. God is omnipotent
2. All positive outcomes can only be attributed to God.
3. God cannot be questioned.

These are nicely packaged in God's order of things, his divine plan which we must operate within to be able to come out of the shaddows. Even though we do the work, God is to be given credit.

I have a suspicion that part 2 of the video will be an effort to describe why bad things happen, i.e. address the problem of evil. I couldn't find part 2, but found this article on the New Church website:

Here's what I took from the article:
1. God doesn't punish sin, people are punished BY the sin.
2. God doesn't cause bad things to happen, but allows them to occur.
3. God causes good to come from bad.

I'm sure this won't surprise you, but I found the video and article to be unsatisfying regarding the Epicurean paradox. They simply amount to a more considered 'mysterious ways' argument.

The topic of omnipotence as discussed from a New Church perspective. It is a very long lecture, almost 50 minutes. (sorry)

That said I find these lectures particularly enlightening. If you do take the time to watch it...maybe over lunch...I'm curious about your observations, not just about the content, but the delivery as well. The pastor has a quirky approach that I find entertaining.

I find when trying to learn time goes by quickly, so I did not find that long. I love the way he teaches, he knows how to hold the attention of those who are listening. I know next to nothing about Swedenborg, I am a Southern Baptist as you know and have no idea what you know about this denomination. I can tell you I differ on somethings with the traditional baptist and some off my differences are fairly big. What I'm trying to get at is I agree for the most part with what I heard, I'm pretty sure if I knew more about Swedenborg I might find more to disagree with in the lecture. However I do not think the lecture at it's face value would differ much from what most Southern Baptist believe. Thanks for posting the lecture. God's omnipotence will always go through His love and truth, if it did not would there even be a universe, chaos only leads to destruction.
