Hi! Smile

I'm a Christian. I have no idea how life started and I'm not ashamed to admit it.

Hi! Big Grin

I'm an atheist. I have several ideas about how life started and I continue to investigate.
There is no shame in not knowing; the shame is in not looking.
Skepticism is not a position; it is an approach to claims.
Science is not a subject, but a method.

You said you're an agnostic in that other thread. That means you agree you DON'T KNOW.

I don't know either. That makes you by default an atheist. An agnostic atheist. Like me and damn near all atheists except for a few scattered radicals.

Brother just let go.
Everything I needed to know about life I learned on Dagobah.

Not so quick. An agnostic theist is just as tenable a position as an agnostic atheist. You're just not used to any kind of Christian but the sure-as-shit kind, and gawd knows there are enough of those. An agnostic theist agrees we don't know but probably has just grown comfortable with God in his life and sees no reason to throw him over board just because he realizes he has no certain knowledge of god.

Actually, yes. It's your claim that God exists, so it's up to you to prove it, not the other way around.

For example, if I told you that Cream Soda has a vanilla flavor, it would be my burden of proof to show you how exactly that is.

Our higher consciousness is a result of our relatively massive brains.

Worms have tiny brains so their consciousness is minimal.

We don't evolve this in our single lifetime, our higher consciousness has developed over millions of years. Survival of the fittest for hominds (our evolutionary ancestors) promoted those with bigger brains, they reproduce more thus brains get bigger and allow the owner of that brain a higher consciousness.

Example - I have a pet sheepdog. He has never worked on a farm yet when he sees smaller animals he tries to herd them. His brain is pre-programmed to do this, just as ours are pre-programmed with higher consciousness as a result of millions of years of developing intellect passed on in the DNA code.

"essence is deep within your consciousness" ? What?

You look?
Where did you look?
You mean.......you look with your physical eyes somewhere?
Opshhh, did anybody ever told you that the consciousness can not be seen with the physical eyes or with the physical senses?
You remind me of that smart carpenter that when somebody told him that he could get certain information he could get them by exploring a computer.
Well the guy went there with a hammer and started braking the computer in pieces thinking that the information where inside the computer.ROFLOL

Sperm whale brain is 5-6 time bigger and yet her consciousness is so much smaller.

Brains size does not always determine the degree of consciousness.

Good.

Again, the brain size does not always go hand in hand with consciousness.

What a load of crap!!!
Collective development is a dogma.
You are what you are because you come from million of years of struggle from mineral life to vegetable life to animal life to human life.
You get nothing from free in this universe.
You got to earn it and if you want to go even further you got to spit even more blood. Angel

Ok. tomorrow i bring you God in a silver plate.
The problem however is that you want be able to see him because you haven't developed enough your consciousness.
To feel cream soda with a vanilla flavor you need only a tiny bit of consciousness but to feel God you need a lot of consciousness so before you pretend to understand God you got a lot of work to do considering your limited consciousness.
Good luck boy.Angel

Chas Wrote:There is no shame in not knowing; the shame is in not looking.

I could not agree more.
Oh by the way who was that guy that told me that in order to believe whether God exist or not someone should first bring evidence?
So where is the effort in looking?Thinking

What if that higher consciousness you claim to have is really your ego?
