Blind faith and evolution

Who made you an expert on consciousness? You're not a neurologist, far as I can tell. If you've made some kind of breakthrough in the neuro sciences that involve actually seeing the consciousness, but in way not involving physical eyes or senses, then where's your Nobel Prize?

Didn't think so.

Have you ever talked to a Sperm Whale? How do you know that it has a comparatively smaller consciousness? Again, are you a neurologist?

And you are living, breathing proof of this fact! Congratulations!

Ok. tomorrow i bring you God in a silver plate.
The problem however is that you want be able to see him because you haven't developed enough your consciousness.

If I can't sense him the same way you do, then your evidence for God is not demonstrable, and I should reject the claim outright.

I could not agree more.
Oh by the way who was that guy that told me that in order to believe whether God exist or not someone should first bring evidence?
So where is the effort in looking?Thinking

I was that guy, and I can see that you have no concept of how to proceed with a claim.

Chas explained that it's okay if we don't know something. When spoke about looking for the answers though, you immediately thought he was talking about God. Looking for answers about God presupposes that a God even exists, which is not something that is naturally derived from simply looking at the universe.

During our search for answers about the world around us, people like you come to us with claims about God, trying to stop us from searching any further because your God can answer all the questions we have. However, it's not up to us to prove if your God is real; on the contrary, it's your claim, so the proof is all yours.

I am striving to get deeper and deeper and one day in this or some of the next lives i will get there.
As far as saying that i got a higher consciousness i certainly got it higher then a materialist minded person but how far i am from the goal of life i really would not know.
It could be that i climbed only 1% of the mountain while a materialist climbed 0.1% so there may not a big difference in term of percentage but as far as desire to reach the top there is a huge difference because is the desire that allow to build a relationship with the cosmic mind.
The ego?
Not really. The ego is confined to the material-physical arena not at the spiritual one.
The difference is that while the material-physical desire hold you down the spiritual one allow you to go higher towards the goal of life.Cool Shades

This might be a discussion better suited to conduct in a forum in which your native language is spoken. In English, you sound like a narcissistic fantasist.

Of course, I might come off the same way if I was trying make a case in Portugese or Spanish.

How do you know? How would you even propose to measure this?

Have you even been near a sperm whale before you decided this?

And they can survive undewater without drowning. Seems they know a trick or two after all.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

I was thinking to give you one more kudos but after your comment i withdraw my offer.Smile
You see dear Stimbo we are talking about consciousness not about physical skill that creatures may have in order to survive.
In the past homo erectus was physically strong that we are today and yet his consciousness was so much smaller so we got to understand was is needed today to overcome the life obstacles and what was needed yesterday.
Capishhh?

Dear Esq., you got to understand what is the consciousness and her role in the life of every creature.
Animals are driven by instinct while humans although they have some instinct they also have free will.
With the free will you are able to do the right thing and reach human emancipation.
The sperm whale or any other animal have still to reach the stage in which the free will will take over.Angel

You do not like my answer?
I can't help.
To be proud of spiritual achievements is ok because that is something that will follow you for ever.
The problem is to be proud of material achievements because once your body go to the dogs also your achievements go to the dogs so i can not see any waste.Angel

Is that possible? Does it make any sense?
Usually blind faith is associated with religion but not always.
Here i am talking about some atheist.
Many atheist believe that by a strange and mysterious combination one born as a human out of nothing due to him-her and other born as plants, worms, insects or animals also out of nothing.
In this way there is no evolution of consciousness.
A worm with his primitive consciousness came in existence just for pure bad luck on the other hand a human being came in existence with his-her more developed consciousness just by good luck.
So where is the evolution of conscience that suppose to be build up as the life progress from lower to higher form of lives?
Is perhaps that we born as humans because humanity has developed for long time and we follow this wave of development?
So if this is true then we are not responsible for our development as the wave of collective progress moves us along anyway.
What a wishful thinking to believe that our consciousness is build up in just a lifetime thanks also to the progress that humans have done since human existence.
Sorry but the very science related to evolution that many believe in contradict this blind faith therefore anyone believing in blind chances has really nothing to do with evolution.Angel

So, essentially your response to my asking you for proof of your completely bald, by fiat assertions is more by fiat assertions?

How do you know all this? Knowledge is demonstrated, not just asserted. How do you know whales are driven solely by instinct? How can you say they have no consciousness or free will? Whales spend their entire lives hanging out in the oceans like a boss, they seem pretty freaking smart to me.

Now, don't just assert your position again: demonstrate it. What makes you sure of this? Once again, have you even been near a sperm whale?
