Blind faith and evolution
RE: Blind faith and evolution
What an idiot.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

C'on, i am not here to show my illusory superiority but i love that you gave me a great idea.
Now if we call an illusory superiority the......Dunning-Kruger Effect how should we call the fact that some people never admit their shortcoming?
Maybe we should say.......the Stimbo effectSmile

Here i am also referring to the fact that people argue whether the quote belong to Einstein or not.
What the hell matter if Einstein said that or not?
Does the quote make sense or not?
If make sense what is the point in going looking around in trying to find whether he say this or not?Confused Fall

Do you mean a person or a thing stimbo? Because this seems to be quite an unambiguous rule break. Try not to lose patience with yourself here Wink

Quote:This gets almost 500k hits on google, but as far as I can tell, none has a source… Doing a Google book search and restricting the date range to 1900-1990, there are only 10 books and several of them attribute it to “Samples, 1976″ which is apparently The Metaphoric Mind by Bob Samples (which also seems to be the earliest published variant)… two sections that attribute it to Einstein, but as a paraphrase rather than a direct quote, with no source given, and the author seems to be adding his own comment when he writes “It is paradoxical that in the context of modern life we have begun to worship the servant and defile the divine” so even if the first part is accurate, this part is probably not Einstein’s.

Is it very difficult to read without extra help?

You would make a very poor Moderator, I fear.

As to the justification behind the epithet, one need only read back through Rico's post history to see that, though most of the words make perfect sense and are completely valid structurally, their actual combinations together can be considered somewhere several orders of magnitude below rational. I feel that he is deserving of no greater level of interaction than that which I gave him.

(Incidentally, I caught your wink and thus conclude that you are being mischievous. I hope you'll take the above comments in similar vein.)

I didn't know that staff were exempt from forum rules stimbo. Some, perhaps. But not this one. Your logic seems screwed, but it's ok, I cast no aspersions on your suitability for staff status.

I see you threaten me for doing exactly the same as you did here. All I'm saying is that you should apply your judgements to yourself.

I'm sure you're not qualified to give clinical assessments on mental capacity, and doing so to someone that you wish to discredit as they disagree with you, would make you unethical.

I always like to be mischievous. Your staff status just adds to the fun! Wink

Where do I say that Staff members are exempt from forum rules? Where do I threaten you with anything? That is why I say you would make a poor Mod.

Your martyr complex is showing, methinks.

As to the rest, I am as qualified to offer opinions on mental soundness as any other nominally rational person here who has waded through the foetid swamp of this thread to this point of (relative) firm ground. I speak, as I'm sure you do, as I find. And I find Rico's... "interesting"... fantasies sorely wanting.

You edited your post stimbo in which you mentioned the staff position.

In the other thread you warned me not to try your patience because I "may" have called maelstrom an idiot.

Maybe your memory is incredibly short today. Again, I make no judgement on your suitability for staff status.

I edited my post because I realised immediately after submitting it that I had indeed made an egregious statement which I could not justify.

While I may have snapped at you in another thread, I made no warnings. In future please try to back up your allegations with (oh dear) "chapter and verse". I have no problem with being hanged for my words, but I'm damned if I'll allow myself to be hanged for yours.

Well that was a bit disingenuous then as you knew what I was talking about.

On my mobile my quoting abilities are severely curtailed. Not that I don't expect people to have some sixth sense and know what I mean Wink
