One does not need a degree in philosophy to know when shit stinks.

Limited knowledge is when you perceive the tip of the iceberg.
Total knowledge is when you are able to get 100% of what is there therefore also to be able to get the part that is under up to the surface of your consciousness.
Here you are talking about higher consciousness not a piece of ice.Angel

Can you try to be a bit less poetic in your posts and a bit more comprehensible.

Is total knowledge:

1: knowing everything about everything.
2: knowing everything on one subject, if so what subject.
3: Is it mystical. If so define/justify mystical.
4: Is it evidence based. If so what is the evidence.
5: Or are you just talking shit.

My moneys on 5.

You can fix ignorance, you can't fix stupid.

@CSJ: As a philosophy major, probably the class that has most prepared me for my life today was called "Philosophic Methods and Practical Living". In addition to learning what was expected from a bit of writing we learned the essentials of life after university. I remember how perplexed I was when I first saw the diagram of the cash register key board. But it didn't take long to master the hamburger button and the rest. The paper hats, now those did take some getting used to .. not to mention the difficulty of finding one large enough for our personal sense of grandeur.

Yes, because pretending to know how "the whole system" works is exactly what I was trying to get across in my post.....

Wrong.
Suppose someone encase you in a human body.
Now you get used to live like a canary in a cage (canary syndrome) and everything seems to be fine.
One day the owner of the canary feel sad that you live in a cage and want to set you free but you think that to live in a cage is not too bad.
This is the real problem with not bring your consciousness up and try to get out the cage.
Philosophy is wisdom and wisdom tell you what is right and what is wrong.
You may not not need a degree or a huge quantity of wisdom but even a little bit at the time is enough to let you know how the system works.Smile

This is also a part of knowledge but when you engage in spirituality you do for merging with the cosmic consciousness not for other reasons.

Quote:2: knowing everything on one subject, if so what subject.

Yourself.
The old saying...........IF YOU WANT TO KNOW ALL YOU GOT TO KNOW YOURSELF.
The spirit is within.
Outside there is only the illusion.
As i already show you you can put a knife through your flesh and not feel any pain.
That happen when you get away from the illusion that you are a body.
When you realize that you are the essence of pure cosmic spirit then you are free from the illusion.

Quote:3: Is it mystical. If so define/justify mystical.

"The unending endeavour to bridge the gap between the finite and the infinite is mysticism." Shrii Shrii Anandamurti

Quote:4: Is it evidence based. If so what is the evidence.

When you fill your body with water or food then there is evidence that water and food are inside your body.
When you fill your essence with bliss then there is evidence that bliss is there.
How can you give evidence in this non material-physical case?
The aura will show.
As you can feel sick by looking at a drunk you also feel good in the presence of someone good.

Again.
Under the spell of the canary syndrome you can not understand how good the freedom is.Angel

How am I wrong that that Philosophy Majors can't use common sense to come to conclusions? I hope you realize that was my point. Of course, you took a wrong turn at Albuquerque and completely missed it...again.

So Enrico, all the philosophy aside, do you enjoy the postures and meditation? Do you do much observation of your mind when meditating?

When you're not meditating, how much internal dialogue do you engage in? What is your opinion of the value of discursive thought?
