The barber is male (implied by 'who shaves him').
The barber does not shave himself (that would contradict 'every man who shaves himself is not shaved by the barber')
The barber does not shave (as him being shaved by someone else, or shaving himself would be contradictory to the premise)

Conclusion: The barber does not shave.
But if the barber did not shave, by definition, he would have to shave himself.

I disagree. By definition one who does not shave, does not shave. I do not shave. I have a beard.

I think I was unclear when I said "by definition". I meant by the rules I posted in the riddle.

Nah! The question referred to the barber as 'him'.

Oh bollocks - missed that.

In that case may I introduce you to......

This one is very well known, no riddle, just simple logic:

John and Jack go into a restaurant, the waiter comes to the table and asks:
"Sorry, you are both very alike are you gentlemen brothers?"

To which John replies:
"No we aren't, I have no siblings, the father of this fellow here with me is the son of my father."

What is Jack to John?

1) helium
2) the mass remains the same
3) the barber is Jack the ripper
If I were to create self aware beings knowing fully what they would do in their lifetimes, I sure wouldn't create a HELL for the majority of them to live in infinitely! That's not Love, that's sadistic. Therefore a truly loving god does not exist!

Quote:The sin is against an infinite being (God) unforgiven infinitely, therefore the punishment is infinite.

Dead wrong.  The actions of a finite being measured against an infinite one are infinitesimal and therefore merit infinitesimal punishment.

Quote:Some people deserve hell.

I say again:  No exceptions.  Punishment should be equal to the crime, not in excess of it.  As soon as the punishment is greater than the crime, the punisher is in the wrong.

If the barber must be clean shaven, then the question is a paradox.
