This little Piggy

As you may be aware, religious tensions have been running high in the Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur after several severed pigs' heads have been found in two mosques. Pigs are considered "unclean" by Muslims (someone here please explain why) so they've taken it upon themselves to be offended. No-one has been hurt though Police have arrested 19 people in connection with these 'attacks' so far.
What's this daft row all over? Well, last month a court ruled that a Roman Catholic newspaper could use the word "Allah" in its Malay-language edition to describe the Christian "God", much to the outrage of Muslims.
You heard it right - the majority of Muslims want the word "Allah" to remain exclusive to their religion and not to be used by Non-Muslims.
Hmm...perhaps its a bit too late for that? XD

Does anyone know the reason why Christian's think Allah is the same as the Christian God? I speculate that they want to make it appear that more people worship the same god to gain a majority, but what where do they get the notion that Allah and God are the same? I don't think it is in the bible, and other than the bible Christian's don't have much other "proof."

The god of the Jews, the Christians, and the Muslims share the same background, the old testament Abrahamic god.
While they talk about the same god, they interpret it differently.

Allah isn't the Christian God. Allah is a totally different God, with different attributes - see the 100 names for Allah. Strictly, Christians regard Allah as a minor god.

The Malay word for God is Allah, appropriated from Islam.
Since the Malay word meaning 'God' is spoken as "Allah", then Christians referring to god use the term "Allah". To them, it is as mundane as we say "God".
