My kids are fully grown adults with their own homes. Frankly, it's a wonder they survived to adulthood with all those guns in the house *sarcasm*. Seriously Min, you need a new pet peeve.

Though I may regret asking, I still have a morbid curiosity, so I'll ask; If we were together in a place where a criminal pulled out a gun and threatened violence, or worse, started shooting, would you be glad that I was there, and that I am highly trained, and have my sidearm with me; or do you think I shouldn't have a gun at all?

Shooting in a crowd is almost never the right answer. You may think you are "highly trained".... so were these cops.

Jessica Grayson was driving behind a pickup truck when the truck suddenly stopped in front of her, blocking her lane. A man exited the truck and approached Grayson's vehicle. He began beating on the window and grabbing the door handle in an attempt to get in. Jessica quickly pulled out her Colt .357 revolver. A man attempted to rob a Dollar General store in Evansville, Ind., with what appeared to be a plastic-wrapped gun. Pastor Carl Sanders was approached by the robber and told to get on the ground, but Sanders pulled his own pistol and said, "No, you get on the ground." Police arrived and arrested the robber, and the pastor plans to visit him to help him get his life on track. (14news.com, Evansville, Ind., 10/20/13)

At approximately 11 p.m., a resident responded to the sound of an intruder entering his home. A 21-year-old man had used a shovel to break through a back window and enter the residence. The resident retrieved a firearm and shot down a hallway toward the intruder. The intruder, who already had a long list of previous offenses, was struck and later pronounced dead. The homeowner was reportedly not injured during the home invasion. (The Post & Courier, Orangeburg, S.C., 5/27/13)

Two armed men entered a Houston auto shop and car dealership demanding money. The owner, Mack Agaybi, saw the suspects on his security monitor in his office before they entered, and left the office with his gun to confront them. A brief gunfight followed, and the suspects fled the scene. Mack donated a $1,000 reward to help locate the suspects. (Gunssavelives.net, Houston, Texas, 10/8/13)

Jan Cooper, 72, was at home with her husband, Bob, 85, when she made a 911 call for help as a man attempted to break into their home. She told police to hurry as the assailant was on her back porch trying to gain entry through a sliding door. She told the police that she was armed with a .357 revolver and that she would shoot if need be. When she heard the door sliding open, she fired. The intruder fled, but was later found and arrested for burglary. "I don't mean to shoot anybody," said Cooper, "but whatever's necessary to literally stop them--he was not going to come into my home." (Foxnews.com, Anaheim, CA, 6/12/13)

Richard Duffy, 48, and his son were watching TV when an intruder broke down their front door. After a brief altercation the intruder was fatally shot, according to a spokesman for the Maine Department of Public Safety. Another man waited in a car, but fled after he heard the gunshots. The 18-year-old man had been hugging his 24-year-old girlfriend when she complained that the weapon was making her uncomfortable, according to KTVK.

A man accidentally shot himself in the testicles at Lowe's Home Improvement store in Lynnwood Sunday afternoon, police said.

The man's handgun, which was in the waistband of his pants, went off at about 12:30 p.m. — an apparent "accidental discharge," according to Shannon Sessions, a Lynnwood police spokeswoman.

A Florida woman accidentally shot her friend in the leg while waiting in line at a Starbucks on Saturday.

Police say Pamela Beck and Amie Peterson were getting coffee at the Tyrone Square Mall in St. Petersburg when Beck moved to set her bags down in order to pay for her drink.

Her purse "hit the ground hard," St. Petersburg Police spokesman Mike Puetz told The Huffington Post, and a fully loaded .25 caliber semi-automatic handgun that was in the bottom of the handbag fired, striking Peterson above the knee.

Beck told investigators that her father had given her the gun about a year ago, and she hadn't intended to bring it out in public. "She had forgotten about it," Puetz said.

Neleida Vasquez told CBS 4 News that she was feeling better. But she didn’t want to be interviewed about the alleged accident that put her in the hospital.

Miami-Dade Police said Vasquez had gone out with her two children to run some errands and returned home earlier than expected because she had forgot something.

Just think if Pope John Paul II had a gun on him when that guy shot him back in 1981. An AK-47 would have been well hidden in his papal robes.
