It's funny you should say that. Years ago, I had a bout of epic food poisoning which had me on my knees in the bathtub with terrible things cascading out of both ends. I had no medicine and I was far too weak to go out and get any. My roommate was out of town. My girlfriend and I worked together, and she left work (this resulted in her being written up) to come over because she heard that I called in sick, brought me medicine and played nurse for two days. I liked her beforehand, but I was also kind of cautious and a bit distant. She earned my love with that gesture.

Oh, I get it. Love is like prostitution. Divine love is like a John hiring a hooker, except the john has the option of torturing the hooker forever if she does not perform within a finite amount of time, oh, and the john does not exist.
