Are we scientists?

RE: Are we scientists?
You aren't prepared for a discussion with us JesusLover. Go away and come back when you are older and (hopefully) wiser.
'The more I learn about people the more I like my dog'- Mark Twain

'You can have all the faith you want in spirits, and the afterlife, and heaven and hell, but when it comes to this world, don't be an idiot. Cause you can tell me you put your faith in God to put you through the day, but when it comes time to cross the road, I know you look both ways.' - Dr House

“Young earth creationism is essentially the position that all of modern science, 90% of living scientists and 98% of living biologists, all major university biology departments, every major science journal, the American Academy of Sciences, and every major science organization in the world, are all wrong regarding the origins and development of life….but one particular tribe of uneducated, bronze aged, goat herders got it exactly right.” - Chuck Easttom

"If my good friend Doctor Gasparri speaks badly of my mother, he can expect to get punched.....You cannot provoke. You cannot insult the faith of others. You cannot make fun of the faith of others. There is a limit." - Pope Francis on freedom of speech

Of course he doesn't. That would actually require him to rationally defend his position to a group of skeptical adults rather than get paid to preach to the gullible flock -- at least when he's not indoctrinating his own child into his sick ancient cult.

Quote:Did you SEE any of that happen? How do you know it happened? Maybe you atheists have more faith than you give yourselves credit for.

Cheap rhetorical flourishes won't cut it, son. Scientists are able to make reasonable inferences about past events on the basis of present conditions. It happens all the time. By your standard, for instance, no one could ever be reasonably convicted of a crime on the basis of forensic evidence if there was no eye witness.

Hell, if you're going to be honest and consistent with your "did you see any of that happen" argument, that pretty much flushes the entire Christian faith down the toilet, doesn't it? After all, you and your parents didn't witness any of the alleged events that form the basis for your faith.

Guys my dad has studied the Bible for over 40 years. I trust his opinion on it over people who think it's a bunch of desert scribblings. You do realize you have to read the Bible with an open spiritual heart?

*Sigh

Many atheists have read the bible, either out of curiosity, to better understand Christianity, or because they were Christian at one point.

Whooptie fucking do! I suppose he has a couple birds and some earthen bowls in the medicine cabinet in the event your house is stricken with leprosy.

As deeply telling as this is about your level of intellectual curiosity, the more important thing to note is that I'm a lifelong atheist and I have read the bible. A lot of us have. Are you going to start picking up science journals now?

What is it that you're interested in, dude: discovering the truth, or ensuring you're never exposed to anything that might threaten the things you want to believe? Would you rather be uncomfortable but honest, or on familiar territory, but a liar?

Would Jesus appreciate you lying, like you are here by omission?

Plus where I live over 90% of people are Christians.

Have you ever done something to see what happens and formed conclusions based upon the results?

Science isn't about knowing the answer, it's about finding it.

Ha Ha.. So true.. and so funny !

Jesuslover1, tell your dad that there are people online that want to hear of his "Truth," and by Jesus' command in the bible, he is bound to explain it to us.

Or he can tell jesus to fuck off if he wishes..

I don't have to approach science with an open heart. Facts don't care what anybody thinks.
