Krispy Kreme

RE: Krispy Kreme
So, I've had them before. But not in at least five years. I don't even recall what they taste like now. I just remember being so, so sick of the hype regarding KK when they were seemingly the fad du jour. I liked my donuts to be from the supermarket bakery.

Which leads me to this: I had never in my life warmed a donut until KK started popping up. That's what you're supposed to do with a KK donut----warm it up. Any other way is somehow blasphemy. Well...I don't like donuts that way. I like them room temp, straight out of the bins in the bakery section of my chain supermarket.

Having said that, I have had one donut (NOT from KK, btw, but my supermarket)in the past almost 5 years, IIRC. It's not that I dislike them. It's just that there are so many other breakfast items I like better (like today's "sausage" biscuits). I just likes me some breakfast!

"I think I use the term “radical” rather loosely, just for emphasis. If you describe yourself as “atheist,” some people will say, “Don’t you mean ‘agnostic’?” I have to reply that I really do mean atheist, I really do not believe that there is a god; in fact, I am convinced that there is not a god (a subtle difference). I see not a shred of evidence to suggest that there is one ... etc., etc. It’s easier to say that I am a radical atheist, just to signal that I really mean it, have thought about it a great deal, and that it’s an opinion I hold seriously." - Douglas Adams (and I echo the sentiment)

Not as well as you think!
I've been eating Krispy Kreme in the UK since I was in school. I remember going to the one in Selfridges with a bunch of School friends after school one day, and I left school almost 11 years ago now. Definitely not a "new" franchise here.

"New" franchise in my neck of the woods. I never said it was new to the UK. And I'm afraid their donuts are stale and very expensive.

Selfridge's lmao. Posh nosh huh?

Fantastic donuts. Unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately for my waistline) they screwed up in my area. They got cocky and built a fancy new free-standing store instead of taking a space in a strip mall. For the first few months the place was packed, but when the novelty wore off, they apparently couldn't meet their overhead and eventually closed up.

I thought the thread was about that odd rapper guy on Tosh.0 that needed to blow his nose.

Yah you did say it was new to the UK! Lol. London gets nearly everything ages before anyone else, so I'll have tried most things years before you. :P

And yeah, we used to go Selfridges after school sometimes. We weren't posh, we were just bored Westminster school kids. :-)

I love their doughnuts, but seldom get them because they're too good.

Well I didn't mean new to the UK. I meant new "in" the UK. A franchise is an individual unit as far as I know. KK coming to the UK wouldn't be a new franchise Tongue
