Orchid Malevolence is like a poor-man's Scythe of Vyse - and with Hex you can use it with LW to cause the hero to come out of hex and into a silence-disarm, whereas OM only silences the hero so they can still run away or attack. Yes it gives silencer intel, attack damage and attack speed all of which are good things for him, but the boost to your strength you get from SoV is missing, and don't underestimate having an extra +10 strength (+190 hit points). LW prevents any hero from combining their skills - pudge can't hook-dismember, tiny can't toss-avalanche, etc.
I had a game as bloodseeker not long ago against a silencer with curse in the bottom lane - he kept my mana to 0 - but I didn't bother about mana I just countered the damage with tangos. At level 6 I went back to base and healed (with thirst's bonus speed from some other hero), TP'd back and killed him. Had he known how to play Silencer he should have easily been able to kill BS with LW + Glaives before I had a chance to inflict enough damage to kill him. All that time he spent keeping my mana at 0 was useless. In order to get Curse early you either have to sacrifice levelling Last Word or Glaives of Wisdom. And Curse is next to useless later game. Yes it has some use early game, but the limited benefit it brings is at the cost of either your LW or Glaives or just plain stats bonus all of which are better for Silencer (the +8 stats bonus also gives you 152 hit points). Not to mention lvl4 Curse takes 135 mana to cast, which is the same amount of mana required for 9x attacks with Glaives. I really can't think of a more useless skill in the game than Curse. At leavel6 your damage (average) should be about 76 and Glaives lvl2 gives a +34 bonus, so 9x Glaives equals 990 damage dealt. That's a much better use of mana than to do 65 - 390 damage and have no control over how much damage you actually do (except of course when combined with LW which is then using 250 mana).
I disagree that Silencer requires his intelligence steal - what he requires is damage and disable. Stolen intel adds to your damage, but it's not what makes or breaks Silencer.

"That's disgusting. There were clean athletes out there that have had their whole careers ruined by people like Lance Armstrong who just bended thoughts to fit their circumstances. He didn't look up cheating because he wanted to stop, he wanted to justify what he was doing and to keep that continuing on." - Nicole Cooke
