Well, if the person is someone I hated enough to kill, then I'd kill him by not helping him. Because that's what not helping someone who is dying is-- passive killing.

What are you willing to do for Bryan Fischer?
|
I can already see the headlines Bryan Fischer saved by an atheist….although I still don't know if it will be seen as a good thing or a bad thing
Well, I've had a bit of first aid training, so I'd do what I could on spot, call an ambulance, stay with Fischer until the medics arrived, tell them what I've done, inform them I wish to be billed for all of Fischer's medical expenses - then I'd slip one of the medics $100 to blow Fischer on the way to the hospital.

And somewhere along the line Fischer or someone inspired by him decides to carry out one of his idiotic ideas. Like for example I dunno. Maybe this Bryan Fischer: Gender Discrimination OK Because God 'Designed' Women To Be Secretaries And that ain't one of his extremists ideas. What? You think that people still will be congratulate you? That they are gonna say that you did the right thing? They are gonna say: if only that guy had continued his walk home and pretend he didn't saw him none of us will have any problem. So excuse me if I have second thoughts about saving the denialist homophobic misogynist christian extremist. And I'm saying this from the moral point of view(since that the one you choose). Even after ignoring the fact that I already told you from the beginning. (May 18, 2014 at 8:40 pm)Zidneya Wrote:I didn't asked you what was the right thing to do? do I? Because tell me where did I asked that? What you think that theres a right and wrong answer? You could turn it into a joke. You could turn it into a scary story. You could turn it into a thriller. You could turn it into a mor….oh wait that's were you got stuck so never mind. I asked. What are you willing to do for Bryan Fischer? So don't get mad at me just because you don't have any imagination. (May 19, 2014 at 8:57 pm)Zidneya Wrote:(May 19, 2014 at 5:14 am)Cato Wrote: You have issues. Humor, terror, morality, creativity those are generated from one's life philosophies. Like I said there aren't good or bad answers…... No wait there are bad answers. If someone is not a direct physical threat to your life right at that second, and they are injured, and unarmed, you help them. PERIOD. Independently even if people take it or not seriously what I'm not gonna stand for are those pussies that tell everyone else what they should or shouldn't answer. What can't they say: I'll save him. But noooo they. There's only one answer and everyone else who thinks differently is wrong. That's one of the ideas that started religion in the first place.
And, just for the record, Bryan Fischer is a spokesman for the American Family Association and is a particularly terrifying mix of far-right-wing and influential. Here's a list of some more colorful views he has publicly expressed:
The source for all this was RationalWiki's page on Bryan Fischer. And, if that wasn't enough, here's his FSTDT page. So, there is a reason some people would consider this a dilemma.

I was born with the gift of laughter and a sense the world is mad.
So maybe I fellate him while he lays dying ??
Nobody is suggesting that this Fischer character isn't a deplorable asshole, but I'm not in the habit of interrogating bloodied human speedbumps while on a stroll prior to getting them medical attention. No matter what his views are or the manner in which he disseminates them, I believe he can be countered without allowing him to writhe alone in pain until he succumbs to his injuries. I fear promoting Judge Dredd behavior by those with hypersensitivity to crankish opinions than I do to the crankish opinions themselves. The OP also doesn't consider the fact that if Fischer were to pass on the street that there will be some other asshole to immediately take his place.
Reciprocity is also in play. I would hope that somebody encountering my bloody mass would lend assistance without considering how my opinions mesh with their view of existence. |
