There's another that science is now warning us about, and if we do not stop the carbon emissions it very well may not be reversible and the end of man will come. The very science that people here says will destroy Christianity is bring truth to the scriptures, God said that if Christ did not return at His appointed time man would destroy himself. There's enough oil and coal to last another 300 years, if an alternative source of energy is not developed we want last 300 years.

Surely this is just fitting non-descriptive, vague ancient writings that could in no way predict (aside blind luck) the context of future generations?

That's actually a really dumb "prophesy" for GC to bring up, because he believes that Jesus will return at his appointed time, so, by very definition, we can't destroy ourselves (or at least certainly not in the way that he's saying).

"Guys! Man is destroying himself, and the Bible clearly says that God won't let man destroy himself because he's going to do it, instead! It's proof!"

And where, pray tell, did 'god' say that?

Mark 13:20

“Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.” - Matthew 24:34

What are the "things" to which Christ was referring that would occur before the generation would pass?

Well, presumably, whatever writer ( and it almost certainly was not "Matthew") put verse 34 into your godboy's mouth is referring to the passages immediately preceding. Otherwise, "all these things" is what is known grammatically as a "faulty reference."

So let's see what is supposed to happen, shall we?

29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:

30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
