RE: Love Jesus?

As for the fictional character angle, Jack Twist and Ennis Del Mar remind me so strongly of men I know, and then with their relationship so intensely shown in the movie, my feelings towards the characters, and their respective actors would be extremely complex. It is a testimony for the actors skill in their craft that happened. I approached the movie assuming 'Jack' would remind me of an old boyfriend, and 'Ennis' would be myself. I came out of the movie, despite my presupposition, with 'Ennis' strongly portraying a married man I know in Wisconsin (GASP!!) and 'Jack' stunningly reminded me of me. It was quite a jolt.
I'd say scripture has sufficient (if mutually inconsistent) detail about Jesus that someone might feel they know him well enough to develop a romantic love for the man. (as for the religious brotherhood love thing, I am not addressing that now) I'm thinking the romantic love for Jesus would probably be discouraged, in general, at most christian churches, but on a case by case basis, there might be some pastors or congregations willing to indulge a wealthy patron bitten by the love bug.

I love the Discworld character Rincewind, in the sense that I identify with him so closely I enjoy his literary company. Though to me he'll always look and sound like Eric Idle.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'

You have a relationship with whateverist because you chat on the Internet. You can't have a relationship with Jesus because he doesn't talk or type back to you.

Really? I always pictured Rincewind as a somewhat less frantic Rick from 'The Young Ones'. Twoflower, on the other hand, puts me directly in mind of Eric Idle.
Funny how people picture things, innit?

Well it all started for me when I first encountered the Discworld PC game. I'd literally never heard of Discworld before and just thought it was something about a “world“ on the CD Rom “disc“. Eric Idle voiced the character so perfectly in it (alongside Tony Robinson and Jon Pertwee - a dream cast). When I later found the books, I still heard Eric Idle in my head. In fact I was rather disappointed he wasn't cast in the live action version of Colour of Magic; good as David Jason was, he wasn't Rincewind for me.

Who says we hate Jesus?

So, why persecute Christianity?

Questioning the bullshit that your religion spews out is not the same as persecution

Ah, I see: you're one of those christians who mistakes being called out on the unsubstantiated things you say, with persecution. Using your own logic, doesn't that mean you're persecuting me right now by questioning me?
Or is disbelief only persecution when it happens to you?
