So, how does agreeing with good evidence make anyone a "purist"? I'd be a purist if I were to take all claims from [insert name of person or group here], no matter if there was evidence or not.

Speaking of which, who here was caught accepting anecdotal evidence over demonstrable evidence? Oh! That's right! It was you. That's the true sign of a purist, for anecdotal evidence without anything real to back it up can neither be confirmed nor verified, especially when it's found on the internet. Example: people that laud the "efficacy" of alternative medicines or homeopathy.

LOL, look, it's not a bad question to ask or a poor claim to make. If vaccines caused autism (or the shakes - seriously get that shit checked out bro...you aren't necessarily "okay" just because you stopped twitching) - we'd definitely want to know about it. It might even cause us to rethink vaccination. But honestly, assuming that the claims were true - the miniscule number of people reporting autism or the shakes would still end up leaving us in a position where vaccines were a net benefit.

Facts:
-Autism =/= agonizing death by preventable disease
-The shakes =/= polio.

Now, thankfully, the claim has been made, and people did go to the trouble of investigating it. It didn't pan out. I'd say that's a pretty good turn of events.

Hi, yes its from my own experience, after taking the polio Vac. I started to have epileptic fits which lasted for 3 to 4 years, I also know a lady who's son after being Vac. became autistic. And of course its from reading other peoples stories on their experience. All I am really saying is, Vac's are not totally safe, why on earth can't people admit this ?.

Next question, you said (I think) that polio was dying out anyway and that the vaccine may not have been the main cause of its virtual elimination? (apologies if I'm misquoting here).

So there's two issues here, does it cause unwanted effects and does it stop polio.

Let's assume for argument sake that the polio vac DOES causes epilepsy in a few cases, including youes. Do you think that information and your experience would affect your view on how effective it is at stopping polio?
