I collect knives

RE: I collect knives
It's on their website warranty page just above the warranty proper:

Quote:If this is your first Buck knife, welcome aboard. You are now part of a very large family, since we think of each one of our users as a member of the Buck Knives family. Now that you are family, you might want to know a little more about us. The fantastic growth of Buck Knives, Inc. was no accident. From the beginning, we determined to make God the Senior Partner. In a crisis, the problem was turned over to Him, and He hasn’t failed to help us with the answer. Each knife must reflect the integrity of management. If sometimes we fail on our end, because we are human, we find it imperative to do our utmost to make it right. If any of you are troubled or perplexed and looking for answers, may we invite you to look to Him, for God loves you.

As far as I'm aware, every Buck knife sold comes with this warranty card and religious message. I've always found it a little odd. What do you think?
I collect knives also. The man that owns Buck is a Christian and he's been doing that a long time. I see no harm in it.

Cuz if there was one thing fucking jesus was famous for it was his knife-play.

Don't forget his commitment to capitalism!

Kind of makes you wonder why a family that believes Jesus/God will come and save the world one day would offer a 'Famous Forever Warranty'.

Faith much?

"I think I use the term “radical” rather loosely, just for emphasis. If you describe yourself as “atheist,” some people will say, “Don’t you mean ‘agnostic’?” I have to reply that I really do mean atheist, I really do not believe that there is a god; in fact, I am convinced that there is not a god (a subtle difference). I see not a shred of evidence to suggest that there is one ... etc., etc. It’s easier to say that I am a radical atheist, just to signal that I really mean it, have thought about it a great deal, and that it’s an opinion I hold seriously." - Douglas Adams (and I echo the sentiment)

What's got business to do with faith? The owners may have faith, but in order to stay in business and to be successful at it, they have to sell indiscriminately.

I wasn't saying business had something to do with faith, all I was saying, many Christian businesses put Christian testimonies and Bible verses in with their product, they see it as an opportunity to witness.

God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.

Honest question, GC: what's the difference between witnessing and proselytizing? If there isn't one, that's cool; I'm just curious.

Huh. Interesting.

A lot of businesses are openly Christian based, and in itself there's nothing wrong with that. But I'm becoming more wary of them. I have stopped going to hobby lobby because I find them morally reprehensible. My boyfriend was forces out of a business that was openly Christian because he was an open atheist who wouldn't attend morning prayer.

Now obviously this isn't every Christian business. And obviously secular businesses aren't necessarily better. Walmart is evil as well. My mechanic has bible verses on his front window, but he does good work and is very nice to me. Even when I wear my SSA shirts. But I am wary.

And the forever warranty looks nice. I want one of those for my stuff.

The forever warranty is indeed nice. I have used it. Here is the part of my collection that is oocassionally used:

I fully intend to keep buying buck knives. Absolutely love them. But it worries me somewhat that this is considered ok. I realize recruiting is a major part of most religions (don't see many jewish missionaries? ) I am reminded of the chick fil a anti gay bs:
Anti-gay Chicken
Obviously the answer would be to boycott these businesses, which I can't seem to do.
Honestly I'm a little torn, I don't think evangelism through products is proper.
I reject your reality and substitute my own!
