I'd be more concerned with what I think is the likelier outcome: acts of violence committed against Muslims around the world by Christians seeking some kind of vengeance. Because the attackers are usually the worst dregs of humanity and the victims are usually not a threat to anyone.
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

There is precedent.
There's precedent for the Japanese bombing the Pacific Fleet in harbor, as well.

There is ample precedent in human history of large groups of people acting violently against a perceived threat.

Yeah, I am aware of that fact. That doesn't really say much about this hypothetical situation, so far as I can see.

Many movements/riots/insurrections/revolutions erupt suddenly, seemingly out of nowhere.
However, my first comment was meant as humor.

As was my first comment, albeit with a point.

13th century, anyone?
Well, half the Middle East wants to live in the Dark Ages.
Why should we not send over masses of Catholic "tourists" to help them?

I know a number of Catholic fanatics I think would make great "adventure tourists" in the Middle East.
