Must be divine.

Nearly Smile corrected it for you. No 8 in there. Unless my calculator is playing me up!

You only made me go and check it by hand Big Grin

Yup no 8 in there! Crisis averted. Return to your quarters.

Yeah I did. Just like I know 1/9 is equal to 0.1 repeating
2/9 is equal to 0.2 repeating
and, brace yourselves, 3/9 is equal to 0.3 repeating

Here is another trick. Did you know that 1/7 in octal is equal to 0.1 repeating?
Also, 1/(7*7) in octal is equal to 0.01234567 repeating.
It's like this pattern is a result of a numbering system.

Try telling a non mathematician that 0.9recurring is 1. That's a long day Tongue

What is more awesome is that there are irracional numbers like pi or e don't repeat at all.

Nor are they the roots of any polynomial with rational coefficients! They will confound your tomfoolery with transcendental total titilation!

That got me more excited than is normal.

I'm a non mathematician and I told that to my mathematician and that earned me a good grade.

Nice! Good work Smile

I've had fun with that. Shown people loads of different proofs. They agree with every stage, including the final stage that reaches the conclusion. Then they reject the conclusion because it feels icky.

Maths is fun! It's fun. When I tell people I used to be a maths teacher they look at me like tentacles just grew out of my head.
