The issue around gay marriage is also about social justice. At least here in a civil union, if no children, the better half isn't considered towards inheritance when the other dies. There have been cases of long term gay couples, ostracised by their own family for being gay, then when one dies, the other receives nothing, going to the next of kin, usually the same ones that disavowed the person for being gay.

Good thing the supreme court of the US decided fairly, mabe not all is lost. We had it here in Portugal for a couple of years and the end times haven't come, I notice no difference, just the usual economic crisis that haunts this small piece of land. Funny that the prime minister that allowed gay marriage is a big responsible for the state of economy. He is in jail for doing what politicians do: use the oportunity to cash in big and unfairly.

Let's face it, virtually all opposition is rooted in religion. When people can't come out and say that directly, we see these ridiculous rationalisations as to what the "consequences" will be. Even from bigots in the Supreme Court it seems.

Well, religious bigotry lost because those arguments are horse shit. I'm very proud of America that this went through even with a majority of Christian citizens. Clearly not every Christian is against gay marriage, and good on every single one of them that isn't! I heard that the majority of US citizens were pro gay marriage, is that right? So credit where credit is due to all those Christians backing the right thing instead of preaching nonsense.

I feel like I've been part of a truly epic event in history! For all you religious homophones out there: fuck you. This law does not require churches to marry same sex couples. It doesn't affect your religion at all. You just want your personal beliefs to be applied to everyone. Well, too bad. That reign of terror is coming down, piece by piece.

Oh wait.... do you mean to say something bad of some description will happen in the future at some point? And whatever it is, it will be as a direct result of this decision?

Fuck off with your magical superstitious thinking and get back on planet earth.
