At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

Who really knows in any ultimate sense? We actually know quite a lot about how our solar system began and when. There is good theory regarding everything after the current, local big bang. Of course this is all inference based on the best, most widely agreed upon interpretation of empirical evidence. No all knowing god whispered the divine truth in anyone's ear.

Keep in mind, all you have is an old fable much like those found the world over in every early human culture. You may like to believe everything in the bible is inspired. But that's just your belief. Doesn't do me any good.

Did Reality Salesman just quote Christopher Wallace? Suddenly I really want to yell "Hey yo Big!" at him repeatedly.

Really? You're going to lead with an argument from ignorance? Dodgy

If you're talking about the first cause argument, do realize there is a big difference between not knowing something and making something up to fill the gap in our knowledge and calling the lack of any competing theories "proof of your cause".

Otherwise, I could simply respond with "leprechauns", and if you can't disprove leprechauns, I can insist I'm right. The world (or rather the universe) existing is only proof of its own existence; it doesn't in any way imply existence of God or leprechauns.

Nobody knows for sure. But I personally can say that the traditional God is logically impossible.

If God cannot do what's logically impossible, then he can't timelessly create anything. For to create requires the existence of time beforehand. If time has always been, and there was never a beginning to it, then this defies the theistic counterpoint against an infinite past.

So did God timelessly create the universe? If so, that would go against logic. And if such a being can defy logic, then there would be no point in using logical/philosophical arguments to demonstrate his existence. And we would then need physical evidence to demonstrate the existence of such a logically impossible being (if it's even possible).

On the other hand, if God did not timelessly create the universe, then there was an infinite past. But if there was an infinite past, what's the use for God?
