The Newly Departed thread: announcements (departures)
RE: The Newly Departed thread: announcements (departures)
I don't hate him either. But I do dislike him.

I still feel compassion for him in the sense that I don't want him to suffer... but that's only because I don't want anyone to suffer.

I'm not a resentful guy.

ETA: I have platonic love for absolutely everyone. I have forgiveness, in my heart, for absolutely everyone. Do I tolerate all behavior? Absolutely not. Forgiveness comes from within, tolerance from without. I can forgive someone at the same time as not tolerating them one bit, that's the way I see it.

I forgive all character and personalities; I don't tolerate all behavior or actions.

Nobody said 'hate' though. I just said we, or at least a large part of this board, dislike him and I think that's a safe assumption to make after his performance in that thread towards members of this forum who have went through horrendous ordeals.

EP said "hated" about himself and the convo developed from there and I think that's why Emjay said "hate is such a strong word".

I feel contempt for a lot of people. But hate? No. I would be hard pressed to name any instance of hatred in my whole life.

Contempt is a strange one. It seems more like an attitude than a feeling to me. Resentment is most definitely a feeling and, supposedly, contempt is too.

But for me if contempt is a feeling at all it is an extremely brief combination of intense disillusionment + exasperation for a few minutes and then it is followed by a complete disconnect of feeling due to a decision made that any feeling invested is going to be harmful both to myself and others and the person is too toxic to be worth my time.

Yeah I have contempt for Drich but it's more of an absence of feeling than a feeling.

Same. Anger? Yes. Resentment? Yes but not for long. Contempt? Yes. Although it's more of a new thing because I used to have too low self esteem to cut off even the most toxic people and I still struggle with it a little sometimes.

Hatred? Absolutely not never that shit is deep. I've said it a few times in my life and I've in the moment believed that's what I felt but it was all so fleeting and followed by apologies and regrets and I don't think that's anywhere near worthy of the depth of true hatred. It was more frustration and exasperation and anger that led to the words "I hate you" in my fury.

I can't put it differently. I sometimes feel contempt for people falling for rightwing messiah figures. They fuck themselves in the process, and that is tied to my second reason for contempt. Ignorance and to a lesser degree stupidity. Real stupidity is a mitigating factor in my opinion, since the faculties to know any better are lacking.

No I know... I know you didn't say the word hate. I was talking about me.

Is it really 'hate' if all I want to do is poop in someone's mouth ?
The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.
