Can I just say, and I'm just being honest...
RE: Can I just say, and I'm just being honest...
CIJS: I've always tried my best. With everyone. My intentions have always been good. But I'm only human, and I've made mistakes. I've gone about things badly. I've said things I shouldn't have said, or spoke when I was too emotional when I should have waited.

In short, I've probably fucked up a lot in my life, in lots of ways, with lots of people. And I'm sorry for each and every time it has happened. I accept full blame for my part in these scenarios. Sometimes mistakes are obvious to me looking back; some I probably haven't even realised. But I continue to try my best. I try to learn, and to do what's right by everyone.

All I want, ultimately, is for everyone to be happy. But life is complex and knowing how to handle things for the best is hard. Balancing all the many, many factors is tricky. I've mostly made good calls I can be proud of. But I apologise for the bad ones, some of which may have done damage that can never be repaired. Just know it wasn't my intention.

We've all said things we shouldn't have said.

When you ask for directions how to do something, you should have the common sense to listen to the answer, and certainly not argue.

You're a case-study in Dunning-Krueger.

CIJS my shift at the cattery yesterday went brilliantly! I'm there as a volunteer, to talk to the public when staff are busy or away. I managed to get three cats rehomed and another family considering it! I don't do the actual rehoming procedure, but I explain it to them, and then they talk to staff when they see available to sort it out. If I wasn't there, these people would have had no one to talk to and probably would have just walked off. I got great feedback, and for once I'm pleased with myself!

When you texted me I felt like maybe not everything is so shit after all. But now that you've hinted at this twice I can't help but deduce it was one of the bigger reasons to contact me at all. That hurts. So no, I won't be doing you any favors. I still care about you too much to tell you to go fuck yourself, but maybe I really shouldn't be keeping in touch with you after all.

CIJS,

Yesterday was a pretty memorable day: as a management trainee, more people are starting to ask me for help; perhaps they may realize that I actually do want to help and be useful, or maybe they just think I'm doing a job.  In either event, the most memorable part of yesterday was when a co-worker handed me a phone with an irate woman on the line.  Apparently, this woman had been given an incorrect extension to women's evening-wear: she had been trying to get through to this department multiple times, but obviously, no one was answering; thus, she finally got connected to the men's department, which is where I work.  As a result, when I picked up the phone and greeted her, she unloaded and got everything she had to say out of her system; I just stood there listening and allowed her to speak uninterrupted, as IMO, any defensiveness on my part would have only made her angrier.  Once she finished, she apologized for taking her anger out on me and she was much calmer as a result.  I then gave her the correct extension to women's evening-wear and the store manager's extension; she thanked me for my help, and then I connected her to evening-wear and went about my business.

Afterwards, a co-worker told me that I handled the situation well.  In response,  I remarked that "you've got to let them vent and you've got to stay cool and listen."  However, the credit for this wisdom and conflict resolution skill goes to the positive role models I've had in my life along with my instructors who taught me that effective conflict resolution is an art.  Hence, I'm just trying to become more of an artist with each passing day.

For you:

At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'
