Sodomy Laws

US Sodomy Laws

Your added citation that several states rewrote their sodomy laws in such a way that they targeted only gay people is also a good find. If only I wasn’t in a bit of a hurry to write my reply so I could take a bath.

1) actually, some were written to be specifically target only gay people. Kit’s first link lists several states that rewrote their sodomy laws specifically to target only gay people and not heterosexual sodomy.
2) even when they weren’t written to be gay-specific, gay people were invariably disproportionately targeted. And, if I’m not mistaken, isn’t shit like that STILL a problem with black people? Getting disproportionately targeted for enforcement of laws, resulting in a disproportionately Large  Number of people being turned into criminals by the system?

Seriously, this was asked and answered like an hour ago.

Were you expecting something similar to Jim Crow Laws that affected black people?

Your fault is in your thinking process, that there must be active laws specifically targeting gay people, in order for them to be, what, legally discriminated against?

The discrimination exists, and that is most important. Inequality, no matter who is affected, is what matters and needs major attention toward change.

So the best you have is "sodomy" laws, a misdemeanor in Kansas btw, since they are the ones supposedly targeting gay people, adultery is also illegal in Kansas. Dodgy

Meanwhile black people had to drink from specific water fountains

Black people could only shop at certain stores.

Black people had to ride at the back of public transportation.

Black people couldn't buy property in certain neighborhoods.

Black people couldn't be in certain towns after sundown.

Black people were discriminated in being hired for jobs.

Black people could be arrested for not having a job.

But Gay people have SoDoMy LaWz, goodnight everybody.

And gay people were arrested, sent to jail, and treated as sex offenders simply for being who they were. And it’s not just a law in Kansas. Until 58 years ago, EVERY single state in the US had one. And today, those laws still stand in 68 countries. In eleven, it’s still punishable by death.

And you want to talk about violence, well, even as these laws are rendered unconstitutional, hate crimes against them are still a thing. In fact, of all the hate crimes that happen, as of 2018, 1 in 5 are motivated by sexual orientation.

Yes, black people are still targeted more, but, guess what, this isn’t supposed to be a dick-waving contest of who gets it worse.

Homosexuality was itself criminalized

And this fun quote from it

Quote:Ethics scholar Richard Weinmeyer writes:[8]

During the 1950sMcCarthyism resulted in state- and nationwide witch hunts of male "homosexuals" in which the acts of oral and anal sex between consenting adult men were [treated the same as] child molestation.
