And I just found out that the story that this song is supposed to tell is utterly insane.

Quote:While Henry Hamilton-Smythe minor (8) was playing croquet with Cynthia Jane De Blaise-William (9), sweet-smiling Cynthia raised her mallet high and gracefully removed Henry's head. Two weeks later, in Henry's nursery, she discovered his treasured musical box. Eagerly she opened it and as "Old King Cole" began to play, a small spirit-figure appeared. Henry had returned - but not for long, for as he stood in the room his body began ageing rapidly, leaving a child's mind inside. A lifetime's desires surged through him. Unfortunately the attempt to persuade Cynthia Jane to fulfill his romantic desire led his nurse to the nursery to investigate the noise. Instinctively Nanny hurled the musical box at the bearded child, destroying both.

So, imagine that you're a nine-year-old girl listening to a music box and all of a sudden, a boy you recently beheaded has re-appeared before your eyes. But he's aging rapidly and begging for you to fuck him. And by the end, he's an old man. That's fucking terrifying.

And this is another song in humanity I get.

Everyone loves to rib me about Abba, ok fine. But long before I was an Abba fan, I was a Pat Benatar fan, so much so I could recite every lyric and tell you which song was on what side of each album.

But, there are other folks out there that parody music, and my friend sent me this.

I remember when I first heard Pat Benatar. The night they debuted the single Heartbreaker on local radio, I knew she was going to be big. Same with Radiohead and Creep.

Unfortunately, my expectations for The Knack after hearing My Sharona didn't pan out.

Went in the early 80s to a nightclub to listen to, and dance to, a live band. They started to play My Sharona and several of us got up to dance. A few bars in the band stopped suddenly and, with the same sneer you see when people mention Nickleback, asked if we were serious and then broke into a completely different song. They were way too cool for Sharona.

That’s not a parody, it’s a bluegrass cover. Not a very good one, either.
