I think the problem is partly people's attitudes towards sex still - it's such an incredibly positive thing, but it's still drilled in our heads to be bad.
Who knows if I'll get married? I personally can't think of a reason why I should have waited. Not when there was so much tickling, scuffling, laughing fun to be had. And not even with someone I was completely committed to - some of the times I count most positive were just between friends.
Wait if you want, that's your prerogative, but don't do it just because a book or someone else told you to do so. One day you'll be glad you have the memories to warm yourself on.
