And that humanocentric world view is responsible for nature attempting to shrug us off right now. It's not novel by any means, but it's the reason for the ongoing destruction of the world surrounding us. It's cutting the branch we're sitting on. We're part of this world. Nothing more, nothing less. This sense of entitlement is responsible for the hottest summer in recorded history, which goes back to the 18th century, with temperatures pushing 40 degrees celsius for the third time this season. So, excuse me, if I don't take that kindly to humans being special.
