DeistPaladin: I'm still waiting to hear how you're going to cut 700 billion out of the budget to cover Bush's tax cuts for the top 1% earners.

For starters, I would like to see congress and the White House help share the financial burden with the rest of us and take cuts in their salaries and benefits packages.

I would also like to see the U.S. defund the United Nations. In fiscal year 2010, the United States funded more than $3 billion to the U.N. We should pull out. Recently, the U.S. stood accused of human rights violations before the U.N. body. Cuba, Venezuela, Iran, and Russia were among our critics. The U.N. is nothing more than a spiteful international America bashing instititution. Iran, Cuba, and Venesuela need to take a hard look at their own human rights records. Why give them anymore of our money, they don't appreciate it. I would love to see the U.N. building closed, and its staff sent out of our country. Let them build another in Iran.

How the U.S. Funds the UN

Each year, Congress must pass legislation to fund the activities and obligations of the U.S. government. In Fiscal Year 2010, the U.S. sent more than $3 billion to the UN. This total included $2.125 billion for peacekeeping operations, $669 million for the regular budget, and $389 million for agencies that the U.S. contributes to but is not an assessed contribution, such as the UN Children's Fund (UNICEF) or the World Health Organization (WHO). The U.S. is the largest contributor to the UN, UN peacekeeping, and UN agencies, paying almost a quarter of the UN regular and peacekeeping budgets.

For the same reasons, I would like to see the U.S. make drastic cuts in foreign aid, especially to Palestine.

I would also look at cutting a lot of small things we fund, like public broadcasting. There's no need for it. Cable and the internet can provide the same things as public broadcasting.
