But what I'm saying is that so many Americans seem to THINK that Religion trumps all.

because he believes in the Constitution.
Perhaps, once again, I was too verbose and not clear enough in my meaning:
I realize what he is saying,
but what I'm saying is: Don't you find it difficult to defend religion,
given the unequal leverage that religion carries in America...and the world?
Ah, I did misunderstand you a bit.
But I still agree that even the religious have every right to an impartial government, and were I a lawyer I'd help ensure that. My reasoning is that by treating the religious different from the irreligious, you are violating both the 1st and the 14th amendments.
