You can't think of any reasons why the idea of guns in school scares people?
Of course it scares you. It can kill you. But like a car if you aren't nuyjob and treat with appropriate respect then you have nothing to fear. As for a high school shooting team, I like the idea, and I like the idea of gun safety classes in school. That doesn't mean you have to avoid good precautions. If it was up to me the guns would be stored with the local range in a time release safe.
