I'd venture to say that most Christians are unaware of the disparity, and seeing them side-by-side might get some of them to think about the inconsistencies in the Bible... if you're even asking yourself "when I say that we should use the Ten Commandments from the Bible as the basis for American law/culture, which set am I referring to?", then you've taken the first step toward critical thinking.
Frankly, if real Christians were behind this it would make more sense to put up a monument with the words of the Sermon on the Mount instead of stuff rambled off by Moses to the Jews. Besides, they didn't really mean squat to Moses since the first thing he did when he got his hands on them was to throw them into the dirt and break them. On top of that every time you see them you should think about those three thousand people Moses slaughtered after his pissy fit.
