Yeah, but that seems a little far fetched. No historian I know of makes that point or even remotely hints at that having an effect. The general consensus in a nutshell is what I said above. The Germans fighting the war of 1940 and the allies still being stuck in 1918.
And you know how it is with the history channel. I wouldn't trust them as far as I can throw them. Minor detail, but I once watched a documentary about the blood judge Rolannd Freisler and the played a speech by Hans Frank atributing it to Freisler. Probably along the lines of noone would notice. Or, what's worse, but in line with their usual historical correctness - they really didn't know.
