Even secular hospitals aren't without their drawbacks and bureaucratic bullshit:
A have a friend who was in her fifties and diagnosed with leukemia. She got it treated and went into remission but it came back about 5 years later. When she went into Kaiser Permanent to seek treatment the recommended course was to treat her back into remission and then get her a bone marrow transplant (from her brother), but when it came time to authorize the transplant Kaiser stalled her and her doctors out so that they could determine whether it was "necessary surgery." The doctors were ready to perform the procedure, the brother was ready and willing, my friend was rearing to go, but administrators and insurance put the kibosh on the whole thing. Due to the delay because of the stupid "authorization" process, the leukemia came back and she died.
As much as it bothers me that religion intrudes into even our healthcare systems, I equally cannot stand the degree to which bureaucrats and insurance companies can interfere with patient treatment.
