It seems everyone is responding to this thread by saying "oh we're nice to theists if they're nice to us." And yeah, a lot of people here are like that. But there are definitely those who are not. This fact should at least be acknowledged.
Yes, there are people here who are just plain not nice to Christians on this forum, particularly Christians who attempt to prove god. That I'd like to see stop. But not by force. I enjoy the wide latitude for speech here. Randy does attract more than his fair share of insults. But then he tends to lay himself out for them. And he sticks to more combative areas of the forum.
There are also whole threads devoted to making fun of Christian ideas and to the more hypocritical or looney Christians. For that I don't apologize. If you visit liberal sites you will find threads making fun of conservatives and vis versa on conservative sites. Christianity, like political ideologies is a set of ideas, ideals, and beliefs. As such it, like any such system is open to criticism both by reasoned argument and by jokes and satire, even gross jokes and satire.
I won't come to church meetings to make such jokes or even to argue that Christianity is false. But while this site is open to all faiths and especially lack there of, it is dedicated to atheism and joking about the "opposition" here is to be expected. If those threads bother you, don't read them.
If there is a god, I want to believe that there is a god. If there is not a god, I want to believe that there is no god.
