So you were put in her section (probably the only open section if it was that slow), and then you proceeded to move yourself to a different table all the way across the store (requiring your server to wait on opposite sides of the restaurant at once), and then you failed to tip entirely which, depending on the restaurant, may have actually cost your server money out of her pocket (many restaurants these days make the servers tip out busboys, bartenders, and other support staff from the money they make during a shift).
Yeah, you should probably just stay home and save yourself the hassle of the shitty service you bring on yourself.
Which brings me to my next pet peeve: grown-ass people who generally have no idea how to behave in restaurants.
I disagree, partly. In an empty restaurant, placing them three or four tables away shouldn't be a problem. Reseating oneself with polite explanation should not present a problem. I agree that withholding any tip is very poor form in the absence of atrocious service, but dining in peace doesn't strike me as an unreasonable expectation under the conditions described.
