Well, then I would say that it says something very specific about English;
It would say that it says that
1. English has about 600,000 words of its own,
and roughly 400,000 either based-upon
or borrowed directly from French.
2. I think it also says that despite English having so many words of its own,
it still felt the need to use some excellent French words
(....of which, there are a bit more than 50,000, incidentally).
