I'm fairly confident the Christian God does not exist. Do I want the Christian God to exist? Absolutely not. The Bible makes him out to be quite the sociopath. I know that Christians don't see it that way. But I'd hate to imagine people burning in hell for eternity. Especially the many people that would.
Would I like to be wrong? I mean the world is a pretty harsh place. What sort of deity would create a world like this? Where children die of diseases, hunger, and various other maladies. What kind of deity says "Cancer. That's a good idea." Even if Sin is the reason for these things, that's a big messed up. Especially since children get cancer.
Sure an eternal afterlife sounds nice. But only if it's both enjoyable, and something where you know people aren't suffering elsewhere for being gay, not believing in god, or having sex before marriage. So I guess it'd be nice to be wrong about there being no afterlife, but right about there being no judgmental god.
