Someone's reasons could be completely different then mine your yours. The point is that I may not understand all of the reasons why people stop, but I am not totally ignorant about the whole thing either.(October 18, 2015 at 11:27 am)Blondie Wrote: I chose to make this post public so everyone on here can see that I have really been through the crap, too. That I have more reasons to walk away then to stay. After this being said publicly for anyone to read, why get mad at God for actions of imperfect human beings is now my next question. Human beings are screwed up from the word go.
YOU have been tempted to leave for emotional reasons.
Now, I don't speak for everyone on here, but I abandoned religion at an early age for logical reasons. Why believe in nonsense? Why believe in an invisible man in the sky whom his believers cannot prove exists? The Bible is factually wrong, so why believe in that? Talking snakes and boats with two of every animal? That's not even freaking reasonable.
A common misconception of atheists is that, according to Christians, we've had bad experiences with religion or in our lives that "turn us away from God." For the majority of us, though, that's not the case. I had a good childhood. I used to love going to church as a child. But there came a point where I decided to work out my critical thinking muscles, did some research, and realized, "hey, this is all a load of horseshit."
Bad memories got nothing to do with it.
