That's what a lot of people living in the "saner" parts of the country don't understand. In the South and in the Bible Belt, there are a LOT of Evangelicals. They literally want America to be a Theocracy. This is 1/4 of the American population, and right now, they are feeling marginalized and angry. If they made up only 10% of the population, that would still be worrisome.
So now, I kind of hope Trump stays as the front runner for a little while longer, because the Evangelicals don't want him. They know he's just spouting whatever will get him the crazy conservative vote. They want Cruz or Santorum.
