Christmas has everything to do with christianity. We don't celebrate whatever the pagans celebrated on that day. We celebrate the birth of Christ on that day. What does it matter if it is on the same day that pagans celebrated something else? We could celebrate it on any day of the year that we wanted to.
Its matters in the sense that why is celebrated on DEC 25th has a lot to do with the history of the Church. The reason for that date is really quite pragmatic. You see the romans celebrated Saturnalia on that day, so when Constantine came along, he knew people wouldn't like it too much if they took away a favorite holiday so they just said " okay now it's for Jesus".
