However, taking part of your morality from Science is great in my books,
is it really that bad to see Scientific studies about amounts of Homocides per area, and deducing that killing people has a negative effect on society?
is it really that worrisome to look at Scientific studies documenting the negative impact using Methamphetamine can have, and deduce smoking Meth is probably bad for you?
I think you forgot to include these things^ when questioning the statistic, forgetting that the fact that you make a moral decision that Violence, and Human Suffering are not something you partake in, as well is a Morality coming from Science.
I find this very puzzling. You can certainly find statistics and facts from the scientific community, but statistics and facts are morality neutral. What you decide to do based on those facts is a moral question. It isn't a question answered by science. It you decide to do what is most healthy for you and/or what leads to the least human suffering, you are making a moral decision, not a scientific one. Science can only help you carry out that decision.
While he didn't word it quite right, that's mostly what I took from what he was saying. I agree; I think science does a good job explaining things to us so that we're better informed about the world around us, and better equipped to make sound moral decisions and judgements.
