I am a person that wants to have as many true beliefs as possible, and as few false beliefs.
If there is a true belief that I currently do not hold, especially concerning the existence of a god, I want to know about it.
So, if someone has sufficient evidence, reasoned argument and valid and sound logic to support the existence of a god, I am open to being convinced.
What we don't like is being preached at, as if we should be convinced by it.
You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.
